I believe it was the great philosophers in Nickelback who once said: “’Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars / live in hilltop houses, drivin’ fifteen cars”. Right? It seems Alessandro Michele might have been bumping the 2005 classic when conjuring up the latest Gucci Men’s Tailoring campaign, which shows archetypal rock at its very glamorous core.
Lensed by Harmony Korine, see Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky and the still-incredibly-sexy Iggy Pop as you’ve never seen them before. Dressed in suits of the house’s iconic cherry corduroy or forest green, the trio chill with Pop’s striking pet parrot, Biggy Pop, or take a trip to the kitchen in bulky, hot-pink knits and cheetah print two-piece suits. It’s basically our dream Come Dine With Me line up, except everyone there is out dressing you in Gucci monogram.
“It was beautiful to see these three men together, seemingly different but very similar”, explains Creative Director, Michele. “This is another chapter of this journey. With these campaigns, I am working on different ways of being elegant, and these three men embody this idea perfectly. I like to tell the story of elegance in completely arbitrary and unexpected ways. Perhaps elegance is something in the air that sometimes you are not even ready for. Male elegance can be unpredictable and strange.”
As long as this journey involves A$AP Rocky in more ruffled 80s prom shirts, we are absolutely, unequivocally along for the ride.
