80s disco-pop is well and truly making a comeback, with the likes of Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa carrying the glittering flag into 2020. Also adding to the hype, is Netherlands-hailed Eefje De Visser with her sultry synth-pop anthem “De Parade”. Showcasing her mesmerising vocals with warm synths, the singer lures us to a cinematic dreamworld with a stunning visual to match.
Speaking on the release, she explains: “The song was created during a rehearsal for the electronic solo tour that I did in 2017. It started with a simple beat from a drum computer, a horizontal arpeggio from a synth, and a vocal line in phonetic English, the Dutch text came later. It is a track about and for loners in a world full of group animals, about nocturnal escapism and about seeking salvation together.”
Having just released her fourth album Bitterzoet, the singer is navigating dark electronica while blurring the lines between synth-pop and sumptuous dance melodies. If you haven’t listened to her album yet, tune out from the world and transport yourself to a quarantine dance floor for an 80s-inspired party.
