There are some songs that stick in the brain, like an addictive yet ominous earworm. And one such example is “Johnson”, the simmering new track from legendary Viennese trip-hop duo Kruder & Dorfmeister.
The cascading production introduces eerie synths, as a downtempo looped groove envelopes the listen in a sense of dread – all making for a ethereal and sultry vibe. Featuring raw and emotive vocal samples, this is to be listened to in the smoky haze of an after-party.
And the cinematic music video is a sinister accompaniment, filmed in a desolate house whereby its inhabitants interact with their surroundings under the hypnotism of a futuristic VR device.
