It might be all doom and gloom outside as summer has now come to a close *cries*, but Beyoncé has brightened our day, with the video for her black girl magic anthem “Brown Skin Girl.” Queen Bey shared the visual last night, blessing us with six minutes of extravagant gowns, glowing melanin and a star-studded list of cameos.
The video which features her oldest daughter and manger Blue Ivy Carter, supermodel Naomi Campbell, actress Lupita Nyong’o and fellow Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland celebrates all shades of black with regal visuals and empowering sequences.
The video that was debuted on Good Morning America was accompanied by a statement from the singer stating, “It was so important to me in ‘Brown Skin Girl’ that we represented all different shades of brown,” she said. “We wanted every character to be shot in a regal light — Jenn Nkiru came up with the black debutantes. It was important that we are all in this together and we’re all celebrating each other.”
The video is off the heels of her celebrated BLACK IS KING visual album – which we don’t think we ever will get over, and we’re excitedly sitting patiently for whatever Queen Bey has in store for us next.
