“Dancehall Queens, Block Girls, Female Rappers, Sex Workers, Abused Women who take Half, Voodoo Queens!” Hear that call? That would be the rallying cry of one powerhouse who is done with taking anything sitting down. LA-hailed creative and thunderous disrupter Latashá is here with her brand new track “GoGo Wyne” – and she did not come to play.

Undulating basslines, self-assured flow and energetic dancehall club energy pulses through the song – which serves as a fearless anthem of empowerment for Black women everywhere. And the music video sees Latashá taking centre-stage as a pay-per-view medium calling on “young, gifted and black” women to take what’s owed.

The rising star came up through the New York scene through explosive performances, opening for the iconic likes of Big Sean, Princess Nokia, Ghostface Killah and Q-Tip, as well as gracing the stage at several festivals including SXSW, Afro-Latino Fest and Brooklyn Hip Hop Fest. And you haven’t seen anything yet – 2020 is looking to be her year.

“‘GoGo Wyne’ is an ode to all the women inside me, who raised me and who are listening, to be in all of our joy, all of our magic, and to not be afraid to collect all our cheques,” explains Latashá. “Even when they try to kill us, we can never die and we offer so much to the world. I hope ‘GoGo Wyne’ can be a reminder to anyone, especially Black women, that we got this. This year has been deeply dedicated to my inner work and understanding worth. Through quarantine, I found that I wanted to share my understanding(s) more. ‘GoGo Wyne’ leads to my new exclusive digital platform, Lytewrk, which will give my fans an exclusive look into my journey and process in hopes to inspire them to live out their dreams. All the characters symbolise all the women I’ve been influenced by in their power. Dancehall Queens, Block Girls, Female Rappers, Sex Workers, Abused Women who take Half, Voodoo Queens, all in the women in their magic, throwing middle fingers up to the white patriarchy, taking their power back.”
