Some straight-up facts: it’s Michael Ward’s world and we just live in it. Since the Top Boy star shot to notoriety due to his career-making role in Netflix’s reboot of the Hackney-set series, we’ve seen the actor go strength to strength – and we are here for it.
And his latest move gets a fashion standing ovation as Ward has been tapped by Virgil Abloh for the new menswear campaign for Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection. Aptly titled Heaven On Earth (because it is, after all, sartorial bliss), it draws upon a dream world that transcends prejudice, inspiring inclusivity and diversity – with the clouds motif symbolising freedom, unity and peace.
Shot by legendary Tim Walker in London, the project also features the creative talents of Ghanaian model Ottawa Kwami, and looks at Black imagination, Black representation as well as Virgil Abloh’s ongoing theme of boyhood – aka “seeing the world through the unspoiled eyes of a child”.
