The Normal People sensation sang and read poetry at the Natural History Museum last night and we can’t cope.

While the Normal People phase of lockdown feels about 64 months ago now, it remains warm in our hearts and our tears remain wet on our faces. But consistently stoking the fires of our obsession have been the dulcet tones of its lead and cover star Paul Mescal, performing Smashing Pumpkin and Sia covers on his social platforms.

And now, fans have woken up to news that last night the Emmy-nominated actor took to London’s breathtaking Natural History Museum, and duetted with Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy as part of his Some Summer Night series.

Between each song and during set pieces, Mescal also performed spoken word, ‘acted’, and read poetry (our hearts)! The show also featured exclusive one-off versions of fan-favourites with both Kennedy and Mescal writing some excerpts specifically for the gig.

The two became friends after meeting on social media, with Kennedy asking the actor if he wanted to get involved in the show – which was broadcast live via YouTube and time-zoned to specific regions around the world.

In other Paul Mescal-related news, The Rolling Stones have also revealed that Mescal will be in the video for their recently released 1974 archive song “Scarlet”. Watch this space.
