Illamasqua x Pride beauty look by @wendysworld_xox – TOGETHER: “It’s important to realise and acknowledge that the black and POC LGBTQ+ experience is very different to the white LGBTQ+ experience. I wanted to use the colours of the pride flag including black and brown to represent the importance for solidarity and support for black POC LGBTQ+ people.”

Love. Acceptance. Identity. Pride is an unbridled celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and every year, the streets and our feeds are awash with smile-inducing rainbow motifs. And one British beauty brand are making sure this year that the message is loud and clear, skin-deep and beyond.

Illamasqua have teamed up with experimental makeup artist Wendy’s World on three vibrant looks all centred around Pride. A thatched, woven base in candy-hued pastels. Contrasting streaked slivers of colour. Rainbow scribbles threaded across the face. And all using Illamasqua’s wide breadth of colourful long-lasting product.

No lives matter until black lives matter but it’s important to acknowledge that black trans people are being murdered at an alarming rate. There would be no pride without black trans women. Pride exists because of black trans women. Therefore, we should continue to fight for the rights and safety of black trans people and protect them at all costs.”

From their Munroe Bergdorf Christmas campaign in 2017, to highlighting people who have faced injustice and inviting them to share their story on their blog, plus the work they did alongside the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, Illamasqua has long been dedicated to fighting injustice. On their blog, the brand explains: “It has always been a core part of Illamasqua to fight for equality, celebrate individuality and give our Illamafia the platform to express themselves no matter their background.”

Coming up, our Editor-in-Chief Toni-Blaze Ibekwe will be holding an IG Live with Illamasqua’s Director of Artistry, Pablo Rodriguez. Watch this space…
