As Madonna so rightly and timelessly once told us: “everybody comes to Hollywood.” An almost mythical place intertwined with showbiz, fame, success, failure – and dramatised time and time again (we see you Tarantino).
And who better to to cast their Midas web over an offering than television kingpin Ryan Murphy (responsible for ubiquitous screen hits such as Pose, Glee and American Horror Story), who transports us to Tinseltown’s Golden Age for his upcoming Netflix series, Hollywood.
Set in 1940s post-World War II Hollywood, the seven-part limited series follows an ambitious group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in their ups and downs of trying to make their showbiz dreams come true.
In true Ryan Murphy style, the cast is absolutely stacked. Former Wonderland cover star Laura Harrier, current Man About Town cover stars David Corenswet and Jeremy Pope, Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Glee star Darren Criss, as well as Holland Taylor, Samara Weaving, Dylan McDermott, and Broadway icon Patti LuPone.
And now the first trailer is here. Watch it below…
Hollywood, a seven-episode limited series, premieres on Netflix on Friday, May 1.
