Beetlejuice stripes, gauzy dresses and paint-splash prints; ruched metallic silk and voluminous faux fur. HBO’s Euphoria was a touchstone for designers Marta Marques and Paolo Almeida, which explains all the dewy face glitter, big curls and buzzcuts. Marques and Almeida have also drawn from youth culture throughout the twentieth century for this latest show, with clear nods to the sixties and seventies (think tall white boots and boxy tunics).
Elsewhere, punky fringes were paired with mustard-coloured two-pieces, ruffled geometric-print skirts and flowery knee-length boots. One standout look – an oversized yellow jeans and jacket fit – was a notable return to the brand’s distressed denim roots. Marques’Almeida delivered a bold, eclectic and colourful collection that doesn’t shy away from their grungy foundations.
