Anyone for some dreamy electro-pop to get us through this cold December Friday? Toronto-based duo A is for Arrows has lit our fire and given us all the heat we could possibly need, musically speaking.

“Without You” is the duo’s debut single, and already they have seamlessly navigated delivering that delicate and weightless feeling so present in dream-pop with punchy synths and transcendental lyrics. A lush California beach provides the backdrop for the tune which bridges the dark parts of love with all the best bits too.

“This song came from a dark place, yet every time I sing through it, I can feel the positive undertones of the experience. I was physically away from the person I love, staying in an airbnb with people I didn’t know. I felt out of place, I felt insecure, I felt like I was in high school…the bad kind of high school. I didn’t feel like I was good enough and wanted nothing more than to run away from the whole thing,” Alessia says of the cathartic process of creating Without You.

Her bandmate Eric elaborates “Alessia and I were on a writing in trip in LA which didn’t end up shaping up how we wanted. We were young, naive, and felt directionless. A lot of that trip was Alessia and I aimlessly exploring LA feeling discouraged. The bones of that song were started there with that feeling of emptiness we shared. I’ll never forget standing at the end of that dock on Venice beach looking out to the horizon, I think we really captured that feeling in this song.”
