Gorillaz. Madonna. A Tribe Called Quest. You better bet that the sounds drifting from five-piece band Bad Sounds are just as eclectic as their widespread influences, making for a seamless fusion of hip-hop, rock, and electro-pop.
The result is a refreshingly textured production with a raw DIY vibe, and their latest track “BREATHE” is no exception, taken from their upcoming EP “Escaping From A Violent Time”, which will be out in January. The song revs up with a chainsaw (yes, you heard us right), then expect a propulsive bassline, colourful synths and hazy funk tones.
“‘BREATHE’ is about the inescapability of our own human nature,” they explained. “How we are destructive purely by existing, and it isn’t something we can help. Some of us carry the burden of that responsibility and truly feel the guilt of being human. We’re all kind of hoping that it means something in the end, but perhaps thats just desperately optimistic. Naive even. Also there is a chainsaw at the start.”
