In “Sidelines”, rollicking percussion and piercing lyrics bolster the electro-pop track, with the Brooklyn-based artist’s seductive classically-trained vocals rolling over the melodies.

And the sweat-drenched visuals see the formidable singer stepping into the ring and taking on a number of worthy opponents in the high-adrenaline scenes.

“When I went into the studio the day I wrote ‘Sidelines’, my goal was to create a really visual song,” she explains. “I wanted every line to evoke an image in the listener’s head. Produced by Ao Beats and written with Kate Morgan, we started to piece the song together line by line. I wanted colours, sounds, movement in the lyrics. It was a really cool writing experiment. It ended up being about a girl walking through life. Sometimes the girl is me, sometimes it’s someone i’ve made up in my head.”
