To say Jordan Stephens has had an unusual life would be somewhat of an understatement. He wrote his first song at the age of 8. Became one half of pop duo Rizzle Kicks. Then, an accomplished actor with film credits including Star Wars 2016’s Rogue One. He’s even signed a three-part children’s book deal, to come out in 2021. And this winding trajectory as well as an exploration of love and his own relatable experiences, is at the heart of the latest venture from the Brighton-born musician: his debut solo EP “P.I.G. (Pain Is Good)”.
The five-part EP includes wistful and introspective “Found In Space”, as well as hazy, textured “Shadow Love”, and glimmering new singles “Teach Me”, “Thunder” and “WDYWFM”.
“‘P.I.G’ is five expressions of the same battle,” explains Stephens. “What I love most about making music is learning more about myself. I’ve had an unusual life and met a lot of people but it feels as though I’m only just meeting myself and it’s not easy. But so far, everything on the other side of discomfort seems promising. This EP is just a jab to check the distance. Most of all I’m happy that I’m releasing music again.”
