With a debut album on the horizon for next spring, 80s post-punk-inspired Surf Rock is Dead drop their latest dreamy track, “Our Time”, a reflection on fear, truth and growing up. Made up of Melbourne’s Joel Witenberg and Chicago’s Kevin Pariso, Surf Rock is Dead offers indie rock with tinges of everything from Vampire Weekend to Mac Demarco. Following on from the hedonistic visuals of their debut single “Away Message” earlier this month, “Our Time” serves as a promise of what’s to come from the upcoming album.

“The song just spilled out after some catchy guitar noodling turned into what would become the verse bits”, the duo explains. “Lyrically, ‘Our Time’ is about the uncertain feeling of chasing after a passion, and the nighttime being the only liberating time to do so”.
