For her latest music video, Naaz asked her listeners to send her drawings of their interpretations of her lyrics. The result is a compilation of unique, adorable illustrations which perfectly match Naaz’s emotive vocals. “I thought it would be beautiful to see how everybody sees and feels something different while reading the same words”, she explains. “A song like this is so deeply personal and universal at the same time, it proves how we are all so normal and special simultaneously”.

Since the release of last year’s debut EP “Bits of Naaz”, the singer-songwriter has received praise both in her home country, winning two Edisons (the Dutch version of a Grammy), and further afield, being nominated for best act at MTV’s EMAs and supporting acts such as Arcade Fire and Jessie J. With influences ranging from punk rock to soul, Naaz’s intimate lyrics in “damage :(” originated from a page in her diary: “writing helps me make my thinking more compact, instead of having thoughts scattered like rain, they’re just nicely collected in a hurricane”.

“We can feel damaged, and alone in this kind of pain, but I hope that when you see this video, you realize we all feel similar feelings, but with a different perspective”, says Naaz. “We are all the same, yet authentic in our thoughts. I am so proud to have a video that is now ours, instead of mine only. We created something together, and this will last forever”.
