Summer is truly on its way out, so next up to look forward to? Party season, of course (it’s never ever too early). Thankfully Chanel know that maximum beauty impact isn’t always about sparkles and glitter, and so for Fall/Winter 2019, the luxury French house have dropped their divine Noir et Blanc de Chanel beauty collection – and it’s a celebration of all things monochrome and chic.

Lucia Pica, Chanel Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer, has focused on the extreme opposites of black and white for a silken and opulent makeup line. As well as the obvious shades, a focus has been placed on the subtle gradations of colour found within these processes: sepias, greys and new “Rouge Noirs” emerge.

“Black and white are the colours I relate most to Gabrielle Chanel; the time she lived in, the power she gave these colours, the way they appeared in her life,” explains Pica. “Black and white were in her surroundings, in the interiors, in the architecture of Paris as well as in the symbolism of her life.”
