Rocketman. Bohemian Rhapsody. There’s been no shortage of biopics recently, documenting the meteoric rises (and sometimes falls) of some of the most influential musicians of our time. And it was only a matter of time until the lens was turned on the iconic David Bowie, following his death in early 2016.
Now, Beast actor and folk singer Johnny Flynn will step into the icon’s shoes in upcoming 2020 biopic Stardust.
Viewers will be afforded a chance to “meet David before Bowie” with the film following the legend as a young 24-year-old man in 1971 – embarking on his first road trip to America with his struggling publicist (Ron Oberman).
Stardust will allow a glimpse into the all-important moments that led to the creation of Bowie’s first and most iconic alter-ego: Ziggy Stardust.
With a script written by Christopher Bell (Netflix’s The Last Czars) and helmed by Emmy award-winning British filmmaker Gabriel Range (I Am Slave; Death of a President), the film also stars Jena Malone (Nocturnal Animals) as Bowie’s wife Angie.
In the first look image, Flynn is seen in a purple roll neck with a black fedora, smoking a cigarette. We are already living for the outfits in this film.
Stardust will be out in cinemas in 2020.
