Flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken. Creamy mash. That sweet, sweet barbecued corn on the cob. Our love affair with South-African born restaurant chain Nando’s has been longstanding, ever since our school days when weekends saw us retreat to our post-cinema haunt of choice. Rap odes have been constructed in its name (Ed Sheeran and Example stan so hard), and it’s safe to say that its made its way into our everyday vernacular and our homes (sauce bottles wall-to-wall in our kitchens).
And as if the food chain needed any way to further penetrate our consciousness, they’ve dropped a line of limited edition merch, and we’re kind of obsessed.
Short and long sleeve tees with the logo, bucket hats featuring the famous cartoon chicken (festival season ain’t over yet), tote bags and fans are on offer – as well as a run of tote bags and prints designed by artist Reuben Dangoor, known for his royal portraits of grime artists (we see you Stormzy). The line is available to pick up at Nando’s Yard, the brand’s three-week East London pop-up, ending this Sunday, and also online.
PERi-PERi 4 life.
