“Have you ever been out with your friends, on a wave, doing your ting, then boom… you get ambushed by a random and they won’t leave you alone?” Explains Donalee. “That happened to me one too many times and that’s what inspired ‘Shush’.”
These unsolicited nightclub advances are something that may be all-too-familiar to most women, and Donalee has no qualms about making it the focus of her latest scathing track (and first ever music video).
In a nail salon in east London, the Jamaican-born South London-hailed rapper and singer relays her story to the viewer in a silky stream of consciousness. A tribute to self-care, and big-up to the levelled, self-assured flow and everyday relatable lyricism.
