Like many looking to build a career in music, Nigeria-born Shaé Universe started out uploading covers online, building a platform around her self-coined “Shae’s Universe”.
A dreamy, nostalgia-fuelled world of R&B, Shaé has carved out a soulful, experimental new sound in the genre, reeling in fans including Stormzy, Chance the Rapper, Krept and Konan and Eminem, even opening for a collection of his UK shows.
Following the success of singles “Melanin”,“No Stallin” and “Black Panther (In Due Time)”, the singer is back with new track “Meant To Be“, a self-bolstering ode to independence, letting go and allowing fate to take its course.
“I’m currently working on my debut album which will be coming early 2020,” she told us in line with the release. “In the meantime, I have a few singles I am to release with visuals so that can be expected in the coming months…”
