Wine holders, floor-length tuxedos, and beehives saw showgoers flock to the Catalan capital.

Oh Barcelona, let us count the ways we love thee. The beach. The eats. The sun. And last but not least, the style, of course. There’s nothing so distinctive as the vibrant colours, overt nods to heritage and the unbridled heat of the collections that pour forth from Barcelona Fashion Week every year at the end of June.
And this year was no exception, marking its 24th edition, with the international fashion industry turning their heads once again to the Catalan capital for four days, with the statement “undress your mind” at the forefront of everything. During the proceedings, BFW also sought to underline important problems facing us today such as environmental pollution and aims for sustainability.
Here were our highlights…
Brain and Beast

Brain and Beast
At the closing ceremony of Barcelona Fashion Week, Brain and Beast was awarded Best Collection, with designer Ángel Vilda scooping the award – certainly no small feat. Only launching back in 2010, the label once again won fans with its emotionally-charged pieces, not short of fun or tongue-in-cheek humour. Spot the stereotypical woven toggle hats, red wine in a handy satchel (please can we have one?), glamorous beehives and kitschy slogans. Obsessed.

Elsewhere, styled by fashion editor Javier De Juanas, Mans Concept & Menswear were back with a vengeance for their fourth year running, this time taking showgoers to Austria with their dreamy show “A Night In Vienna”. Tailoring was minimal but given a sensual update, with silk and organza as the predominant focuses. Tuxedo jackets rippled with drama, sweeping the floor, and shirting ruffled at the hems or sported abstract chest cut-outs.

Fringing. Metallic. Sequins. Faux fur in roasted cherry red. Imagine everything fun and bolshy you could want on a piece of clothing and Custo Barcelona certainly delivered. Exaggerated shapes were adorned with a collage of various textures, and every piece was brought together by a futuristic sci-fi sensibility. Festival dressing all-day everyday.
