WONDERLIST

From Cardi B to The Black Keys, all the best new songs and videos this week had to offer.

Cardi B – “Press”

Cardi B was back this week with the release of her latest video: “Press”. The NSFW visuals see the rapper in court and an interrogation room, dancing in the face of her captors alongside a backup troupe that would make any prosecutor or detective quiver in their boots. Yes, Cardi don’t need more press, Cardi don’t need this inclusion, but we’re going to give it to her anyway because this song slaps.

Flohio – “Hell Bent”

London rapper Flohio has quietly been honing her music into some of the most ferociously exciting, pressing sounds coming out of London at the moment, and her first new song of 2019 is no different. Produced by JD. Reid (the man being Slowthai & Skepta’s “Inglorious”, and Mabel’s “Finders Keepers”), “Hell Bent” sees Flohio double down on the vivacity with which her rap has been characterised by thus far, adopting an arsenal of breathless flows that weave in and out of the track’s glacial instrumental. Exploring themes of dedication to her craft and her desire to stay on top, the track is reminiscent of Flohio’s earlier productions; glistening, yet completely destructive – lending itself perfectly to her notorious live presence with an insatiable energy and an intoxicating hook.

Mark Ronson – “True Blue ft. Angel Olsen”

This week saw the return of beloved hitmaker and TED talker Mark Ronson, albeit in his new guise of sadboy pop producer. Perhaps the pick of his new album – “Late Night Feelings” – is “True Blue” featuring Angel Olsen, a relatively upbeat pop song dedicated to the highs and lows of romance. Despite being more poppy than some Olsen’s other music, the singer’s her crooning vocals soar here, and she steals the show as someone to keep a close eye on.

Snoh Aalegra – “Find Someone Like You”

This week, Swedish singer Snoh Aalegra continued the build-up for her much anticipated to upcoming album with single “Find Someone Like You,” a delicate, jazzy, love song about finding the perfect match. Aside from her own magnetic, hypnotically unique sound, Aalegra stans will be excited to see the features list for the new project, Aalegra having already collaborated with the likes of Vince Staples and Logic. In the meantime, this song is more than enough to get you through to next week!

The Black Keys – “Fire Walk With Me”

THE BLACK KEYS ARE BACK! Having burst into the collective imaginations of every 13-year-old in England and beyond with “Lonely Boy” all those years ago, The Black Keys have been steadily continuing their output of feisty rock bangers, and latest single “Fire Walk With Me” is no different. Taken from latest album “Let’s Rock” (their ninth, yes NINTH studio album), the song comes complete with some glittery, stylised visuals, the whole package ensuring that this one will be on repeat throughout the summer.
