PREMIERE: DEEP TAN – “AIR”

The Hackney trio release the visuals for their debut track.

Emerging from the darkness with their atmospheric pop sounds, deep tan are a trio from Hackney set to make an impact. Releasing their debut song “air” today via Practise Music (Squid, Osquello), it’s an eerie pop sizzler reminiscent of early Warpaint that details a group of islanders who lie about their ability to swim as a metaphor for those who lie in general life. And, deep tan are spoiling us with the beautiful accompanying visuals too.

Directed by sister duo Waterbaby, the video is a stunning dream-like journey that sees the three-piece bathed in pink light and accompanied by captivating visual effects. “We spent Easter Sunday sealed in a pitch black tiny flat, windows taped up with tin foil,” Waterbaby say of the process. “Discarding all our little plans and schemes we ended up filming spontaneously and on impulse. The film captures the essence and free spirited nature of the band and shows their strength, individuality and beauty prevailing in a world that often feels like a hoax. In a void like vacuum, the desire for truth is illustrated through movement, colour and feeling.”
