If there’s something we can get behind, it’s an inspired casting. And Twitter was ablaze this morning at the news that the long-underrated Robert Pattinson has been lined up to play the next Batman.
The Batman will be helmed by director Matt Reeves whose previous credits have included the last two Planet of the Apes sequels, as well as cult-favourite handcam sci-fi Cloverfield.
Pattinson, who initially rose to fame in teen fan stan roles in Harry Potter and Twilight, has since been praised for his pointedly increasingly indie portfolio such as Safdie Brothers’ crime gem (aka low-key masterpiece) Good Time, and more recently, Claire Denis’ brutal but sexy space flick High Life.
The actor will take over from Ben Affleck, who has played the iconic DC Comics superhero in the last three movies.
The Batman is set to hit cinemas screens in 2021. Can we just fast-forward to then, please?
