PLAYLIST: BLOXX

The perfect pre-Live at Leeds playlist.

If you know what’s good for you, tomorrow you’ll be heading up north for a day of amazing live music. With venues scattered across Leeds, Live at Leeds festival offers a chance to sneak a peek at some of the hottest new artists around. Megababes Sundara Karma, Metronomy and Tom Grennan are headlining tomorrow’s festivities, but there are tonnes of acts knocking about that you’d be silly to miss.

Soooo, for some inside scoop on the ones you should deffo not be missing out on, we got indie pop dreamboats Bloxx to take us through the music they’ll be watching – in-between wowing the crowd themselves – this weekend.

APRE – “Gap Year 2008”

I think this is a mega tune! We had APRE on tour with us last month and they’re great guys! They will definitely smash this year in the music game. All of their songs are bangers so I can’t choose my fav.

HALFNOISE – “Know The Feeling”

TUNE! I’ve been listening to HALFNOISE for a long time now, they were my top artist on Spotify last year! I’m excited that they’re getting recognition they deserve over here! Zac Farro will hold a place in my heart forever.

Cassia – “Sink”

I love this tune. Cassia are a great band: classic beach vibes, puts you in the bikini and pina colada mindset.

Gengahr – “Before Sunrise”

I’ve loved this tune for a while, I think I found it on a playlist a year or two ago. Very excited for new stuff from these guys! I’m hoping to catch them some time.

Bloxx – “Headspace”

Can I put our own song on here? I’m going to do it anyway. Because the sun’s out and this tune is summer vibes for us!

Larkins – “Something Beautiful”

Another summer tune, I’m feeling very summery apparently. I love the video for this song. I first heard of this band through scruff of the neck, who are a cool bunch of people, killing it at the moment.

The Hubbards – “Merv”

This is probably one of my favourite songs ever, no joke. I LOVE The Hubbards with all my heart. We had them on a few dates last year and they smashed it every single night! It’s a bit scary when you watch a band THAT good.

Swim Deep – “She Changes The Weather”

A classic indie anthem, an iconic band. This song probably changed the way I listened to and wrote music in my teens. They also have this sense of cool aesthetic that I really like. All round bangers in general.

Sophie And The Giants – “Waste My Air”

A great new female fronted band and I’m fond of that! I’ve heard really good things so they are definitely a band to look out for. I’ll definitely be stoked to catch their set.

Sam Fender – “That Sound”

Definitely one of my favourite artist discoveries from 2018. He hasn’t released a bad song and I don’t think he ever will. He’s got THAT sound down to a T, haha!
