ALMOST FAMOUS MUSICAL
The iconic ode to ’70s rock ‘n’ roll is being adapted for the stage.
Few films have a script, soundtrack or (most importantly) wardrobe more fabulous than Cameron Crowe‘s 2000 film Almost Famous.
For those who need catching up, the story follows a 15-year old boy reporting on a ’70s rising rock band for Rolling Stone. Inevitably, he gets completely swept up in the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle as well as glamorous groupie Penny Lane (slayed by Kate Hudson).
Now it’s been announced that Crowe’s writing a musical adaption, with a score created by Tony-winning composer Tom Kitt (who featured in Crowe’s tweet teasing the partnership last week).
Expect an all-singing, all-dancing homage to the music, fashion and rock stars of ’70s San Diego. It’s. All. Happening!
Almost Famous: The Musical will be open to the public from 27 September to 20 October at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California. Until then, you’ve got a few months to bag a bargain Penny Lane coat on eBay for autumn 2019…
