Two years ago, Leeds-based singer Karnaval Blues was working a bank job – “a real 9-5, grey and lifeless, stereotypical, mind draining, bad job.” Every evening, he’d spend hours cutting jazz samples, writing lyrics and making his own music to recharge – culminating in his forthcoming EP, set for release via LA label Mind of a Genius Records this year.

Following his praised debut single “Forget“, Karnaval Blues has just dropped the EP’s lead track “You Come With The Rain“. Layering soulful vocals and guitar over minimalist electronic beats, the atmospheric track depicts the bittersweet end of a romantic relationship.

“It’s about loss, getting over someone, the separation – and the nostalgia that comes from that,” he explains, highlighting its place within the storyline of the EP: “I want this record to be listened to from beginning to end. I don’t see it as two singles then the rest is there to make it a full album. It’s a full project.”

Listen to “You Come With The Rain” below, and stay tuned for the rest of the story when the rest of the project drops soon…
