We’ve been looking for some new tunes to soundtrack the hazy descent into summer, and Toulouse trio Mirage Club just delivered.

Made up of Pierre Stevens (covering lead vocals and guitar), Maxime Runtz (keyboard and vocals) and Raphaël Le Garreres (on guitar), Mirage Club blend the feel-good elements of a whole range of genres – from French garage to disco and rock, they cite Daft Punk, Queen and Muse amongst their influences.

Their new single “Communication” mixes funk rhythms with more pop-led synths and catchy lyrics (preaching “Communication…don’t take this stuff for granted!”)

Lifted from their forthcoming EP – due for release this Autumn – the track will also be accompanied with a video inspired by the dystopian worlds of Black Mirror, Mad Max and Equilibrium, imagining a parallel universe where technology overrides our capacity for emotion and authentic interaction.

“Music has always offered itself as a window to freedom and satisfaction. It makes time run much faster than it usually does too”, the band explains. “In this mixed-up century where evolution tends to overwhelm us, the three of us embarked on a journey towards a Cartesian-driven disco where words become meaningful.”

“Communication” drops tomorrow via Sidekick Music. Check out the track below, and more from Mirage Club here.
