It’s been almost five years since IRL angel FKA twigs graced us with her debut album LP1, and now she’s finally back with the first taste of her highly anticipated forthcoming project.
“Cellophane” opens with twigs stepping out from behind a gold curtain in perspex pole dancing heels, wearing the most dreamy bejewelled underwear you’ve ever seen (recent Coachella outfits included).
Layering barely-there vocals over a delicate piano melody, it’s a strikingly simple return from the singer – delivered with the kind of effortless confidence we were expecting all along.
“When I wrote cellophane over a year ago a visual narrative came to me immediately, I knew I had to learn how to pole-dance to bring it to life, and so that’s what I did”, she commented on Instagram.
“throughout my life I’ve practiced my way to being the best I could be, it didn’t work this time. I had to tear down every process I’d ever relied on. go deeper. rebuild. start again.”
