A few months ago, Kelsy Karter gave the Kardashians a lesson in breaking the internet. To promote the release of her single “Harry” – an ode to soft rock’s favourite heartthrob, Harry Styles – Karter posted a fake tattoo of his face (yep, that one on her cheek) to Instagram, which immediately went viral. It was a wild and glorious stunt, teasing the kind of recklessness she incites with her music.
The New Zealand born, LA-based singer-songwriter takes inspiration from legendary rock ‘n’ roll icons, with her latest release “What U” championing rebellion, fearlessness and not giving a fuck what anyone thinks.
“After the Harry stunt and all the hate that came my way, I wanted to release something that would show my fans that no matter what circumstances you’re faced with, or trouble you find yourself in, you gotta do you and be the best version of yourself, no matter what”, she said of the message behind the song. “I’m not the girl that’s going to sit back and wait for things to happen. If I want something, I’m going to go after it.”
