Wonderland.

WONDERLIST

All the tracks we’ve had on repeat this week, from Lizzo and Missy Elliott to the epic return of Will Young.

Will Young – “All The Songs”

Hot. Damn. Will Young is back.

With a new record deal and seventh studio album on the way (Lexicon is due to drop on 14 June), “All The Songs” is our first taste of the project, which is built around the joy of pop music. “I always say that there’s no point in doing if it’s not joyous”, he said of the record: “That’s been my motto: do it the way you want to do it.”

Oh, and the video is a certified moment representing how we all want to feel for the arrival of summer 2019. Catch Will on a 21-date tour later this year, kicking off in October.

Peggy Gou – “Starry Night”

DJ of the moment Peggy Gou’s come through with a brand new mix to see you through the weekend, released under her own new record label Gudu Records and taken from her forthcoming, 2-track EP “Moment.” “Starry Nights” is one to turn up circa 4pm this afternoon and play on repeat til dawn on Sunday. You’re welcome.

Read our new interview with Peggy in the new issue of Rollacoaster Magazine, which you can pre-order here.

Liv Dawson – “Pushing 21”

Over the past few years, Liv Dawson’s made a name for herself as one of the most exciting young female voices in pop. This week’s “Pushing 21″ is as honest and introspective as ever, exploring the challenges of navigating life as a 20-year-old woman (yeah, with a voice like that, it’s hard to believe she’s that young).

“Pushing 21 is about taking action in cutting people out of your life when necessary. It’s fueled by empowerment and new beginnings”, Liv said of the track: “I wanted to let everyone know, especially young girls, that it’s really important to put yourself first and take charge in situations that are slowing down your progress in anything you’re doing.” A-men.

Lizzo & Missy Elliott – “Tempo”

Lizzo and Missy Elliott? Possibly the most perfect dream team we never knew we needed.

As the undisputed bad bitch of 2019 so far, Detroit-born Lizzo’s been building anticipation for her forthcoming album Cuz I Love You for some time, and the release of “Tempo” has raised the hype to an all-time high.

Cuz I Love You is out on the 19th April. Until then, enjoy Tempo and join us waiting patiently for that inevitable internet-crashing video…

Hotel Lux – “English Disease”

Hotel Lux are back with new track “English Disease”, which ushers in a darker new sound from the 5-piece. The song name-drops Danny Dyer, Lady Diana and The Pub… depicting the intricacies of everyday British culture.

“The tune started as a joke initially. It’s intended as a bit of a tongue in cheek dig at ‘lad culture’”, frontman Lewis Duffin explains: “The song came about all sat around in our front room humming away melodies, trying to work out which would be best and went with that.”

Sonn x Ayelle – “Small”

R&B singers Sonn and Ayelle have dropped the third installment to their “small” EP, following “Lights Out” and “Mercy.” With smoky atmospheric production and delicate , barely-there vocals, this is one highlights just how seamlessly the two artists merge to create a sound that’s totally unique.

“Small is about the insecurities that come up early on in a new relationship, the fears and the vulnerability of it”, Ayelle highlighted: “You’re letting someone in as well as their baggage and hoping you can handle it and that they can handle yours as well. It’s a scary thing.”
