You’ll recognise him from Baby Driver and The Fault In Our Stars, but American screen star Ansel Elgort’s latest jaunt sees him showing off some smooth moves in the brand new music video from east Atlanta rap talent (and friend), J.I.D.
In the low-key visuals, inspired by the opening scene of 1973 cult thriller, The Long Goodbye, Elgort boogies around his apartment with his cat, before spotting J.I.D’s scantily-clad rooftop party across the way in the neighbouring apartment block.
The track “Off Da Zoinkys” comes from the J.Cole-signed rapper’s critically-acclaimed sophomore project, DiCaprio 2 – lushly layered over a gospel sample from The Crowns of Glory, with J.I.D’s confident staccato flow spitting about abstaining from drugs.
“This video was special to me because I’ve always had a passion for film and movies and to be able to recreate a 70s film with one of our generation’s greats, is amazing,” explains J.I.D. “Ansel is more than an actor, he’s a brother to me and great person, everyone will have a differing perspective on this art, and they will all be correct.”
