What would Gossip Girl‘s Blair Waldorf wear to work in Paris? Look no further than Thom Browne‘s AW19 collection. True to its businesswear roots, the NYC- based brand reconceptualised the working suit at Paris Fashion week – and there was a lot going on.
Down a runway decorated with desks and old typewriters, models stormed “to work” wearing a variety of extravagant tailored looks. There were ankle-cropped trouers – revealing sensible shiny brogues – pleated skirts, and classic camel trenches. Coats and suit jackets were layered over buttoned cardigans, shirts and ties, forming busy silhouettes accentuated by a whole lot of clashing patterns and patchwork prints.
In a palette of reds, whites, black and blues, Thom Browne’s AW19 brought an American preppy aesthetic to Paris – especially those ribboned shoes, patterned totes and – yep – dog-shaped carry-ons…
