Virgil Abloh’s Off-White show was always going to be a highlight of Paris Fashion Week, and it seems as if the American designer has been inspired by his time in the capital as Louis Vuitton Mens’s creative director, with a womenswear collection that oozed elegance and true French chique.
While last year’s Vuitton show saw a range of rappers and hip-hop artists, from Octavian to Samuel Ross, don Abloh’s designs, he opted here for a cast of seasoned models, headed up by longtime affiliates Bella and Gigi Hadid, Adut Akech and Karlie Kloss. These were the names chosen to debut four Off-White ballgowns, designs perhaps more grandiose and couture-like than the brand’s previous looks, with front row viewers dazzled by an array of yellows, A$AP Rocky ‘Testing’-lookalike checks, and and slique blacks and silvers.
The brand’s urban, industrial character was not fully relinquished, with silver puffers, wraparound tape-like boots, Matrix-esque square patterns and bold text laden jackets also featuring, as well as a range of accessories.
