Breakthrough UK Jazz/Soul talent Tertia May gives us her first new music of the year, in the shape of “In My Head”, produced by longtime collaborator Subculture. The track confirms May as an exciting rising talent, offering up her signature blend of pop bravura, soulful nuance and late-night comedown, all wrapped within a genre-shifting package, built around a louche bass line and shuffling drumbeat which provide the perfect counterpoint to the singers caramel vocals.

Nestled in the dusty, hip-hop production is the sound of May coming to terms with an unsettling paranoia “All you want to do is take from me, In my head”. Speaking exclusively on the track, May said: “In my head was written after quite a long day in the studio and the vibe definitely portrays this; hazy & laid back. The song itself is about no longer letting someone effect you and treat you poorly. For me, the cold callers really gives the song that bit of glitter and passion the beat needed.”
