“With this track we tried to embody the energy and attitude needed to get over someone or an experience,” explain frontwomen (and longterm mates) Sarah Nimmo and Reva Gauntlett of Nimmo. “In those moments where you have to tear yourself away from something and force yourself to recognise that either it’s gone or just not going to work there can be a wild shift in energy. This track is about that leap, the sinking feeling it gives you and I and guess the sense of exhilaration that can be taken from a simple moment of closure.”
It’s not been an easy ride for the London-born future-pop band, who three years ago found themselves at a loss of what to do when they left their record label. The five-piecer took a strategic break, and now after some much-needed regrouping, have announced that they will be returning in May with their highly anticipated debut album (finally!).
And if their disco-tinged lead track from the record, “No More” is any indication of what’s to come, we’re in for a treat. Think a shimmery synth-laden production with a pulsing beat, all showcased in the band’s gorgeous Lisbon-shot visuals.
“We shot the video with our friend in Lisbon, Joel Stagg,” they reveal. “We spent a month there writing music, going out – making new friends and were generally focused on letting go of the structures around us in London. Every day and night we would take our speaker out with us for syncs and whenever we found a beautiful spot or felt particularly loose or free spirited we would get the camera out and do a sync to the track. We wanted to show people are true nature and give people a closer insight into our friendship and also just make people smile.”
