What started off as a dismissive tweet at the beginning of November last year (shots fired at Pete Davidson), swiftly spiralled into one of the most viral tracks of all time, as Ariana Grande led her ex-positive movement with “thank u, next.” And let’s not forget the transcendent, retro visuals incorporating all our favourite 00s films, plus a cameo-now-turned-meme from Kris Jenner, spouting, “thank you next bitch.”
And just when we thought our stan-induced heart palpitations had slightly dissipated, Ari’s got them all the way up and racing again with the news of a new album, aptly named, of course, thank u, next – due to drop on 8 Feb.
The follow-up to her summer record, Sweetener, we’re anticipating sass levels to be turned up all the way to 100 if we’re judging from the album’s tracklist.
She’s already dropped the oh-so-lush “7 rings,” that has us wanting to spend big $$$, as well as emosh track, “imagine,” but it’s the names for the rest of the songs that has us positively screaming from the boldness.
“break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored” is *cough, cough* supposedly about one of Ariana’s exes, plus “ghostin” will presumably talk about modern relationship dynamics. We geddit.
Can it just be 8 Feb already?
