Immortalised by Kylie Jenner in January 2016, the New Year is prime time for reflection, or more importantly, Realising Things™. It’s a slow, cold and often disorientating month, so we’ve enlisted London-based designer Clio Peppiatt to select and illustrate three tarot cards to help us navigate the transition into 2019.

Well-loved by the likes of Jorja Smith, Miley Cyrus and an endless rotation of London’s dreamiest divas, Clio’s eponymous brand on draws heavily on astrology and the divine: from the biblical cherubs and serpent symbolism in her most recent SS19 collection, to decorative suns, star signs, constellations and tarot imagery for AW18. From distinctive illustrations and embellishment to slogans, snakeskin and faux fur, Clio’s designs rework ultra-femme glam for modern day witches.

Citing her highly personal approach as the most important and rewarding aspect of her creative process, the designer is currently focusing largely on a bespoke service, where she invites clients to develop their own ideas alongside her to create unique, custom-made pieces.

“At the end of 2018 we launched a Bespoke beaded dress service as another wing to the Clio Peppiatt label, focusing on artisanal craft, designing directly with our clients and a completely zero waste process,” she explains. “It’s been a really exciting project to watch grow. In 2019, personally, I hope to travel more! I’m starting off by visiting NY at the end of this month. For the label, 2019 will see us working on some exciting sustainable accessories – all will be revealed soon…”
