Donald Trump’s tenure as President has consisted of various events and scandals. For many, however, the last two years have been characterised by the president’s seeming inability to maintain an opinion, Trump’s tendency to go back on his stances quickly becoming known as political ‘flip-flopping’, with Twitter the preferred arena for these changes of heart.

With this in mind, Sam Morrison has launched the hilarious President Flip Flops project, which sees some of Trump’s most contradictory tweets emblazoned on fittingly bright red flip flops. Subject matter includes Syria, the media, and the electoral college on each of a pair of slides, with the brand encouraging buyers to “take a scroll through Donald Trump’s 40,000 tweets, and you’re sure to catch some contradictory opinions”, per Business Insider. “I wanted to highlight this hypocrisy”, he says.

While the slides were listed online for $28, there is a catch: the President Flip Flops have now sold out completely. Whether this is due to an increased resolve to call out Trump on his lack of consistency, an affinity between fashion and politics championed by the likes of Balenciaga, or because people just like having tweets on their feet, there is no doubting the need for such comic relief as we enter a 2019, which is sure to bring a whole lot more contradiction on the President’s timeline.
