PLAYLIST: HMLTD

Everything the South London band are listening to on the road with Nine Inch Nails.

We’d all like to be a little bit more like HMLTD (formerly known as Happy Meal LTD) in 2019. Over the past few years the South London six-piece have reached a certified iconique status for their unique sound, punk-glam meets dressed-up 70s rock androgyny meets S&M lewks, and renowned high-energy live shows.

To see through the New Year, lead vocalist Henry Spychalski, guitarists James and Duke, bassist Nico, drummer Achilleas and Zac on keyboards have put together a playlist soundtracking their December USA tour with rock band Nine Inch Nails. Honorary mention to their latest track “Flex” (or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Embrace My Fragile Masculinity), featuring Xvoto.Delete.

Check out their picks below…

Nine Inch Nails – “Piggy”

We heard this live last night; the ending went into a cacophonic cluster, and went into a recurring theme of the Downward Spiral. It was really beautiful.

Warren Zevon – “Desperadoes Under The Eaves”

The best American songwriter that no-one listens to at his very best. “Don’t the sun look angry through the trees… don’t the trees look like crucified thieves?”

The Jesus and Mary Chain – “April Skies”

This song encapsulates the grim dampness of the UK in its long winter from October to April.

Patti Smith – “Gloria”

One of the most iconic opening 20 seconds of any song.

Kanye West – “Ghost Town”

“SOMEDAY, SOMEDAY, SOMEDAY…”

Cocteau Twins – “Heaven or Las Vegas”

We like to pair up our playlist with the places that we’re visiting. This is arguably the best song about Las Vegas.

Herb Alpert – “A Taste of Honey”

A song for steaming into the Mojave Desert in a limo.

Solange – “Losing You”

A little 80s tinged, with a gorgeous chorus. Only to be listened to in the sun.

Ginuwine – “Pony”

Last night Achilleas and Duc were very drunk and somehow ended up in the casino security section. They panicked and ran to the first exit available. What they didn’t know is that it was Magic Mike live night at the casino – they arrived in Magic Mikes’ dressing room, between screaming ladies on one side and the muscly strippers on the other side. Then nico lost $317 on blackjack.
