PREMIERE: BODY TYPE – “TEETH”

The Sydney-based band take us on an animated trip to the dentist.

Following the release of their debut self-titled EP, Sydney’s Body Type have treated us to their animated new video for “Teeth”, a 90s style homage to cartoons of an age gone by.

The video is directed and animated by Rikki Clark and Nicholas Griffith, who explains the nostalgic choice: “Rikki and I wanted to emphasise a 90s cartoon illustration style. I feel it’s something we’re both inspired by and would be a really simple and effective approach. In those cartoons, there’s no crazy after effects stuff going on. If something warps, you just draw it warping and that’s the fun part.” Body Type’s Annabel Blackman adds, “Teeth is a song that twists one reality into another; sour dentist trips and heartbreak rips become a harnessing of the past and life’s crooked imperfections. This is one of our big amp up songs when we play, our collective level of ‘tude digs drama and humour out of the song like a big bad cavity.”

These are exciting times for the Australian band, who have been touring with Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and have just been confirmed for SXSW Festival. Check out the video for “Teeth” below.
