MEET THE MARGA-TINI

The cocktail hybrid at London’s Aqua Shard.

When is a cocktail ever a bad idea? Never (is always the answer, by the way). Especially when sipping one flanked by floor-to-ceiling views of London.

You’ll already have heard of the panoramic sights at London’s Aqua Shard, the Shard’s dreamy 31st floor restaurant. And as if we needed another reason to rush the elevator, right now all eyes are on the bar with their new revamped cocktail menu – packed with all the exciting stuff.

Drumroll please… the Marga-tini. Yes, you heard right, their new concoction looks like a martini but tastes like a margarita.

“I was inspired to create a cocktail that would be a fusion of two of the biggest consumed cocktails in the States, a Margarita is the number 1 choice followed by the Martini,” explains bar manager, Eduard Balan.

“I wanted to maintain the margarita cocktail but with the influence of a martini. I used, agave and orange flower water to emphasise the Cointreau orange taste, and finally the waqamomo peach as a substitute to the olive. The result is a fusion of the two favourites, creating a transparent, unique cocktail I call the MARGA-TINI.”

Plus for coffee lovers, don’t miss the first ever White Espresso Martini (made with white coffee liqueur), as well as the new Pineapple Pisco, based on the traditional Chilean beverage “Terremoto.”
