After three and a half years as the creative director of Nina Ricci, Guillaume Henry took a bow in March this year, leaving the slot wide open for a new taste-maker to take the helm.
And now, the French fashion house has announced the appointment of award-winning Dutch design duo (and IRL couple), Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh.
Better known for their Antwerp-based menswear brand, Botter, their previous collections have been celebrated as hedonistic, humorous and innovative – so it will be interesting to see what they bring to the ultra-feminine identity of Nina Ricci. This year, the buzzy pair also reached the final of the much-esteemed LVMH prize, and took home the Première Vision Grand Prize at Hyères Festival.
Relocating to Paris from Antwerp, the duo will show their first collection for Pre-fall 2019, but reveal their official vision during Paris Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2019.
“We are very honoured to be a part of this fantastic project,” say Lisi and Rushemy. “We feel very inspired by the fresh, feminine and subtle codes that make Nina Ricci such a beautiful ode to femininity. We aim to create a new spirit, a spirit of our times, effortless yet sophisticated, strong yet positive.”
