PLAYLIST: ZUZU

Our fave Liverpudlian on her fave Liverpudlians.

Liverpool based Zuzu is, quite frankly, an otherworldly being. Releasing her debut EP – “Made on Earth by Humans” – earlier this year, her hypnotic indie-pop stylings and addictive melodies have established her as a formidable one to watch this year and she’s been picked up as a new fave by pretty much every “music ‘biz” person around.

Coming from a place known for birthing its fair share of musical talent, we got Zuzu to take us through the artists from her hometown that have inspired her journey so far.

Queen Zee – “Sass Or Die”

The coolest, funnest bunch of earthlings I know! Me and Zee go way back to Zorb though.

The Beatles – “Across The Universe”

It’s impossible to think of Liverpool and not The Beatles. This is one of my all time favourites.

The La’s – “There She Goes”

Such a classic tune, what’s not to love about The La’s.

The Real Thing – “You To Me Are Everything”

If your mam and dad don’t have this record, are you even from Liverpool?

Echo And The Bunnymen – “The Killing Moon”

Adore this song, guitar tone is unreal. Also has a sweet sync in Donnie Darko which is a favourite of mine.

Hooton Tennis Club – “Always Coming Back 2 You”

Beautiful song by a great band.

Elvis Costello – “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again”

Childhood classic for me, he’s not actually scouse but his grandparents are from Birkenhead!

XamVolo – “Lose Love”

This just sounds so, so good.

Bushes – “Friends”

These are the nicest guys in the world, such good songwriters too.
