There are two things that are consistent when it comes to Canadian duo, Garçons: groovy Prince-esque vocals, plus sick visuals.
Well, it’s a good job then that the pair are solidly self-sufficient, with singer/songwriter, Deelo, producing the slick flow, and producer/director, Julian Strangelove, dreaming up the funky technicoloured mini-worlds/music videos.
Funky 80 synths, reggaeton beats and a hell of a lot of soul populate the tracks, with Deelo dishing out cheeky lyrics over the top. Their latest release “Hang With Us”, taken from their seven-track EP “Body Language”, transports the viewer to a silly wig-filled universe which is half nostalgic home movie, half Tarantino opening credits sequence.
“It’s about embracing your imperfections, and not taking yourself too seriously regardless of what these virtual worlds try to make you believe,” explains the pair. “For the video, we wanted to show everyone what it’s like to hang with us while we act like fools, play our music loud and just have a good ass time. It’s definitely a really positive song with a great mix of hip hop & jazz, and we love that about it.”
