PLAYLIST: CIRCA WAVES

Colin Jones picks out their festival season essentials.

Indie rock band Circa Waves stole our hearts back in 2015 with their debut album Young Chasers. They’ve just finished a new album, which they say is so musically varied that their existing fans might be confused and very much shook. We’re excited though, and in the meantime we got Colin Jones, the band’s drummer, to take us through the tracks they’re listening to right now.

For a group who met at a festival and have since performed at the likes of Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and Boardmasters, they have all the right credentials for giving us some essential summer tunes.

HALFNOISE – “She Said”

Being a fan of Zac Farro in Paramore I was excited on a solo project and it didn’t disappoint, this hits the summer nerve for me.

Justice – “New Lands”

Mike from Royal Blood showed me this tune a couple of years ago and its stuck with me. Put this on while driving and it instantly makes you feel like you’re in an 80s detective movie.

Leon Bridges – “Bad Bad News”

Always been a Leon Bridges fan and this tune from the new record will no doubt be played in some festival dressing rooms, it’s hard to not dance to.

White Denim – “Magazin”

One of my favourite bands with an incredible new song, will be blasting this in the bus this summer.

Knox Hamilton – “Work It Out”

Knox Hamilton are a new find for me and this was the first song I heard from them. Puts a smile on my face.

COIN – “Talk To Much”

We got to play some festivals with these guys in the states last year and they’re a great band – this song is full of pop goodness.

Circa Waves – “T-Shirt Weather”

Hard to not put this, it’s a staple summer playlist tune!
