PLAYLIST: TEN TONNES

The singer-songwriter on the bands you should be listening to.

Ten Tonnes – aka Ethan Barnett – was always set for greatness. Coming from a musical fam, his captivating indie stylings have seen him going from strength to strength, and it’s clear he’s not done wowing us yet.

With 2018 set to see him soar even higher (he’s just secured a top spot at Live At Leeds Festival so ya know we’re not joking about here), it’s no surprise that he’s one of the coolest new faces around. So much so, that we got him to give us the inside scoop of the newest bands we should definitely be listening to. Have a listen and then enjoy showing off all the cool new bands you now know to all your mates.

Adam French – “My Addiction”

I feel like I’ve known Adam for ages now, in the best way possible, haha. We first met at a Burberry acoustic event and have since seen each other all over the place. He’s an absolute legend and his new tune “You From The Rest” is a standout. Definitely check it out!

Zuzu – “What You Want”

I’ve been aware of Zuzu for ages now but finally played a show together the other week supporting the legend Tom Grennan. She’s got an amazing voice and some proper belter tunes. There’s only two out on Spotify so far but some new ones coming soon I think. Check her tune “What You Want” while you wait.

TOPS – “Petals”

Now this is more of an established act; they’ve currently got three albums out, but I still feel they’re not massively well known. Everyone I show the tunes to falls in love with them though so I’m confident you will too. They’re Montreal natives and my standout tunes are “Way To Be Loved”, “Petals” and “Further”. I can’t actually remember who showed me them but go listen now, you won’t regret it!

Bad Sounds – “Meat On My Bones”

I supported Ratboy with Bad Sounds earlier in the year and they’re absolutely great. Some massive tunes and a great live show. I’m sharing a bunch of festival bills too so will be good to see them again. My standout tunes are “Hot Head Chippenham” and “Meat On My Bones”, get to know!

ARK – “Operator”

I’m yet to see ARK live yet but it’s on my to do list! She’s released a couple of singles this year and both are great. “Operator” is my favourite, definitely go check it out.

Dan Stock – “Baby Valentino”

Me and Dan are both supported by the same BBC introducing show in Beds, Herts and Bucks so I’ve known of him for a while now. He’s recently signed to the legendary Heavenly Records and released a new EP the other week. He’s got great lyrics and tunes, reminds me of all my favourite 80s new wave acts. His new tune “Take It Too Far” is my favourite so far. He’s also got a tune called “Bright Ideas” which isn’t out yet but a proper anthem so keep your ears peeled for that one!

Fenne Lily – “On Hold”

I first saw Fenne Lily play years ago with my Dad, would’ve been about 2015 or something. Since then she’s released a bunch of great singles and has an album out in the next couple of weeks I think. I’m sure people probably already know her tunes but if not, her song “On Hold” is a great place to start.

Anteros – “Breakfast”

I first played a tune with Anteros about two years ago now, time has flown by though! They’ve got some great tunes and another band with a great live show. “Breakfast” and “On The Moon” are my favourites, proper disco dance vibes.

Live at Leeds Festival takes place on Saturday 5th May. Tickets available here!
