EYES ON: EDDIE PEAKE

The artist’s latest exhibition is a throwback to pre-millennial Finsbury Park.

Launching Wednesday, one time Rollacoaster artist Eddie Peake invites us back to his childhood, in the guise of a colour filled exhibition at Bermondsey’s White Cube, Concrete Pitch.

Inspired by the exposed concrete recreation space of the artist’s old stomping ground of Finsbury Park, the exhibition will feature new paintings, sculpture, installation and sound, each which recalls the north London pitch that became a meeting ground, sports field and general drama capital for much of his youth.

Detailing that drama, throughout the exhibition’s run Peake will be part of the collection as he reenacts his daily routine and performs instances of the drama he encountered growing up – just to fully transport the gallery visitors into his own little vision of London.

Also joining him for the exhibition will be DJs from koollondon.com – FKA Kool FM – who will be broadcasting an online radio show throughout; set to be fully immersive and about as joyful an experience as they come, be sure to go find a slice of Finsbury Park in Bermondsey this week.

Concrete Pitch is at White Cube Bermondsey, South Gallery from 7 February – 8 April.
