PREMIERE: VOYAGES – “NEW YEAR’S DAY”

The Bath based quintet takes us through to 2018.

As the nights continue to get darker and the days colder, Bath based babes Voyages are giving us the summer escapism that we’re all craving. Dropping the vid to “New Year’s Day” – the eponymous track of their debut EP which came out earlier this year and which you can get on swanky vinyl here! – the group are taking us on a much-needed weekend break to Tenerife.

As frontman Will Walter says: “It is an anti-Christmas video – set not in the sleet covered streets of England, but in a sunburnt foreign terrain nodding to the possibilities and not the realities of the life you live.”

Soundtracked by the group’s beach-bleached 60s psych-pop song, the track explores the crappy decisions you may have made in the last year. In Walker’s own words: “’New Year’s Day’ began life as a poem I wrote on New Year’s Day which was ultimately a stream of consciousness brought on by a goddamn awful year and catastrophic New Year’s Eve party which resulted in loss of phone, wallet and mind.” We’ve all been there, pal…
